Working with a close knit team working at Cheddar Caves was very varied. Depending where you were on the site depended on what we done on the day. We sold tickets, gave out audio guides, done guided tours for booked groups and school visits, answered any questions, advised on what to expect when visiting the site. We dressed up as Mesolithic hunter gates and gave talks and demonstrations at the on site museum such as flint knapping, for school trips and visitors. During Covid we started manning Jacob's Ladder to ensure Covid Safty as well as taking on extra cleaning to ensure safty for staff and visitors. Show less

Done a mixture of archaeological excavation and post excavation. Working on a number of sites in Wiltshire, South Wales and HS2. Working in the field I excavated archaeological features and recorded them using photography and paperwork. I also done some GPS work and on a couple of sites catalogued finds and soil samples before being sent to the office to be processed, to make the office aware what was being sent to them to be processed. In addition to field work I took part in post excavation, in which I mainly processed finds by cleaning them and aiding in cataloguing them. Show less

Dressed up as a Anglo-Saxon woman giving guided tours around Glastonbury Abbey, talking about life at the Abbey for the monks, how the Abbey became to be how it was before the dissolution of the monastery by Henry VIII. We learned to adapt tours depending on groups as we catered tours for school groups language groups and many more. Whilst I wasn't doing the guided tours, I worked in the ticket office selling admission tickets to the Abbey and promoting Gift Aid. Furthermore, I promoted memberships. In addition to the above, I also aided in taking payments from booked groups and notifying the Living History Team when their booked groups have arrived. Finally, as part of ticket office staff I took part in opening and closing the Abbey depending on shift and walked around the grounds and notifying grounds staff if there were any problems on site.
