Bio
Bob Henshaw
Jay is an industrial designer who combines a well developed aesthetic sense with an explorative approach to materials and processes. It was this observation that led to us offering Jay a 6-month residency as a prototype developer. He quickly learned to program and run parts on our Haas CNC and worked on numerous prototype builds over that period. In addition to supporting client prototype work he also took the initiative to design a dust collection system for the Haas. Initially I was skeptical this would work due to the tool changer that envelopes the cutting head during changes. However, Jay solved this problem leveraging Fusion 360, 3D printed components, magnets & standard hardware. It is a clever and robust design. We look forward to seeing Jay in an industrial design role where he can combine his refined aesthetic sensibility with his innate problem-solving ability.
