John has been my mentor during my Summer Internship with Oracle. He was really instrumental with guiding me and is an excellent mentor. He has a great extent of knowledge about the various components in PCA and he helped to understand the design of our project and helped me to get started with my work quickly. He always gave very detailed technical answers to various questions I had during my internship and also connected me to the right mentors and helped me deliver successfully on my project. I would really love to work with him again in the future.

John is our network expert. He understands Cisco switches in depth, both the installation and configuration of the firmware and all the configuration settings and issue . He is our liaison with Cisco both interns of product support for customer issues which need to be reported to Cisco; but also network design and configuration for new products. John is also responsible for Sauron and clearly understands it in depth. Whenever there is an issue he is able to diagnose the problem and resolve it for the next build. John communicates effectively both with our local and remote team members using e-mail or slack to ask follow-up questions to learn more about the issue directly to save time. He does more than just answer questions, is also eager to teach, share knowledge and/or logon to the rack to help diagnose the issue. When significant changes are introduced, I notice John is standing by in case he might be needed which is off-hours for him since we are time zones apart; but somehow he anticipates and responds right away. John is passionate about his area of work; any issue raised is responded to immediately with enthusiasm. I think he must be monitoring things from his cell phone because one time when I entered a bug on Sunday, he responded right away to find out the severity and offered to login and work on it. John is great to work with, he is thorough and always follows up, he is generous with his time when I need help. He asks the deeper questions to both understand the immediate problem and also look at it from a higher level perspective. John wants to understand how things work end-to-end and does not limit himself to just his area. For example, he has learned how the build works so that he can update Sauron components in the manifest himself rather than entering a bug and waiting for "the build team" to handle it. The expedites his work since he is able to coordinate check-ins across projects which need to happen at the same time ort the build will break. I highly recommend John.
