I met Javier Martínez when he was studying his third year in the Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration at the Polytechnic University of Valencia. He was part of the High Academic Performance Group of the Faculty, and I taught him the introduction to Marketing Management. The main task required in my subject was the development of a marketing plan, with the aim of applying the contents explained in class. The assignment had to be done in a four-person team and its elaboration extended during the whole semester. The project submitted by Javier’s team consisted of developing a new service for Spotify to stream live concerts, as well as the communication plan to promote this new functionality. I must acknowledge that their document was one of the best projects presented in their class group. All the analysis was carried out with a professional mindset, unearthing relevant issues for the project. The strategy integrated consistently the objectives with the company situation. The marketing mix was built with a value-creation orientation. The product development was probably the best part of the project. Finally, the document presentation was extremely well crafted. I would like to underline the work performed by Javier’s team, as well as their capacity to tackle with the problems identified in our periodical meetings. At the end of the semester, the team had reoriented successfully many of the initial mistakes, and in some cases, they had gone beyond my suggestions. My impression was that all of them strove for improving the whole project. I recommend Javier for this good teamwork performance, as well as for his effort in understanding all the concepts explained in class. My experience as professor of Javier was very positive, and I think he can do a good job there where he eventually works at.
