During this period I had the opportunity to work on a vast number of residential, commercial and institutional projects managing the various workstages (Inception, Design Concept, Design Development, and Documentation & procurement). The skills gained include; · Inception: Receive, appraise and report on the client’s requirements with regards to brief, site and rights and constraints, budgetary constraints, the need for consultants, project programme and methods of contracting. · Design Concept: Prepare an initial design, check for conformity of the concept with the rights to the use of the land, review the anticipated costs of the project and review the project programme. · Design Development: Confirm the scope and complexity of the design, review the design, construction system, materials and components, incorporate all services and the work of consultants, and finally review the design, costing and programme with the various consultants. · Documentation and procurement: Prepare documentation sufficient for local authority submission, complete construction documentation and proceed to call for tenders. · To date I have yet to handover the site to the contractor but will be involved in this process in the coming months. Some notable projects include winning competition entries for a mixed use urban development on Ile Folien in Valenciennes, a high rise in Puteaux, the International School of Riyad in Saudi Arabia, the Fangshan Tangshan National Geopark Museum in Nanjing, the new headquarters for the French Ministère de l'Intérieur, and the renovation of the restaurant Vinoteca at Hotel Pullman in Paris.
