  Company Information: Patton Engineering Limited is a engineering company that provides Drafting & Designing; Structural; Mechanical; Fabrication; Machining; Sandblasting & Thermal Arc Zinc Spray engineering services. My duties relate to drafting and designing. On new build projects, I use architectural and/or structural drawings supplied by the client to draft building information models (BIM). On maintenance or seismic strengthening projects, depending on the nature of the project, manual measurements, point cloud scanning, or concrete scanning may be required to verify existing structure. I would then either design a concept for approval, or make use of concept drawings supplied by the client and draft a building information model (BIM). The building information models (BIM) are drafted on 3D modelling software called *Autodesk-Advance Steel*. The models are used to create fabrication and installation drawings. The BIM is also used to extract other data such as material lists, text files (used for optimization), NC/DXF files (used for CNC machining). Additionally, I would liaise with the project engineer regarding the project, whether it be for ‘requests for information’ (RFI's), instructions received or alternative design proposals. When point cloud scanning is required, I would conduct scanning on site using *FARO* scanning equipment, and use software called *Scene* to create and export a workable point cloud. The point cloud is exported from scene in RCS/RCP file format, which in turn would be given to the client or be used internally. Show less
