I work on a project called Aeolus meets Poseidon which aims to develop a model for accurate predictions the amount sediment front the beach towards a coastal foredune. The model consists of several modules including models for ground water and wind behaviour. My responsibilities within the project are:- Model development- Modelling of wind behaviour (using OpenFOAM a computational fluid dynamics package)- foredune monitoring (LiDAR, photogrammetry)- field experiments (wind, groundwater, surface moisture)- co-promotor of 3 PhD's who all work on different aspects of the field observations (groundwater, wind, remote sensing)- end-user engagementOther activities include: - Teaching fluid mechanics- Giving MATLAB tutorials- Supervision of MSc students for their thesis or internship- Guest lectures and hurricanes & water safety Show less
