Actor/Technician, Assistant Stage Manager, Sound Engineer

May 2005 - Aug 2010
2007 Bob Knowles Award for Outstanding Artistic Integrity and Professional Discipline The Lost Colony is a symphonic outdoor drama located at The Waterside Theatre in Manteo, NC. It is open only during the summer, May through the end of August. My first two years, 2005 and 2006, I held the role of Actor/Technician, which required scenic work and performance onstage. In 2007 and 2008, I held the position of Assistant Stage Manager. In 2009 I went to Florida to go back to school, but came back in 2010 as the Chief Sound Engineer. The play is about the first attempts to colonize North America by Queen Elizabeth I and Sir Walter Raleigh. It tells the tale of what might have happened to the "Lost Colony", the group of 116 men, women, and children who were left to survive on their own while England went to war with Spain. Show less

After graduating from the theatre program, I was hired into the newly created position of Theatre Technical Assistant. My responsibilities included overseeing the creation and completion of the sound, lighting, and properties designs for each production. These elements were usually done by students, but I also completed a few sound designs and ran the sound for various productions.
