Workplace Pensions & Compliance Manager
-
Mar 2021 - Present
In my current role as Workplace Pensions and Compliance Manager at BHP Chartered Accountants I am responsible for overseeing and managing our 800+ Payroll Bureau clients Pension Schemes. • I ensure our Clients are compliant with the Automatic Enrolment Legislation set by the Pensions Regulator. • I identify new fee sources, such as completing the Declaration of Compliance or Scheme set up on a clients behalf • Monitor and respond to Client queries on general and complex matters • Provide in depth advice to clients on their pension schemes, providing various reports and statistics • Set up new workplace pension schemes for clients with a multitude of providers, I have knowledge and experience of nearly all main UK Pension Providers • Work with and advise non-payroll bureau clients on their Pension Schemes • Ensure my team are completing all work set to high standards eg- manual pension uploads, manual enrolments, completion of everyday administration tasks. I work closely with the Payroll Management team to ensure pensions are correct and running smoothly at payroll level. I ensure the correct pension settings are input on each individual payroll as we use various software providers to send data direct to Pension Providers, any incorrect settings or missing information can cause a data feed to fail which could lead to a breach of legislation. I ensure that Payroll are monitoring the enrolment of Employees and providing myself and my team with the relevant figures to report back to the clients. Currently I am overseeing the transition of hundreds of manual payrolls to Automated/Direct uploads alongside completing an in depth audit of all the Pension Schemes. This requires in depth technical and operational knowledge which I have gained in my career so far. Show less

Lead Pensions Advisor
-
Aug 2017 - Mar 2021
In my previous role at People Plus I was leading a small team that implemented the Government Workplace Pension Scheme legislation for Employers of Personal Assistants, who received Direct Payments, through funding provided by Local Authorities Health and Self Funding Services. As it is mandatory for employers to provide a pension for employees who meet the eligibility criteria, I used my knowledge and experience from my previous role in pensions and payroll to advise employers and employees across the entire pensions process. I held meetings with all teams and managers in the Pensions, Finance and Payroll departments to advise how best to approach and implement the Auto Enrolment of around 12,000 Employees across 4,000 separate Employers into a NEST Pension Scheme. As part of my role I delegated tasks to staff and ensure that all deadlines set by the Pensions Regulator and the business were being met. As well as leading the team I was in regular contact with Local Authorities, Councils and Employers through meetings, telephone calls and Email to ensure the Employers accounts were adequately funded in order to pay Pension Contributions and to provide various reports on numbers of Employee Enrolments and costs. I take great pride in the fact that I turned around a small department which was struggling to achieve its targets and losing money, to being a part of the wider business that always achieved its targets and brought in vast amounts of revenue though Pension Scheme set up fees and on-going administration fees.
