Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate)
-
Aug 1998 - Aug 1999
Upon moving into my new role as an Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate) I shadowed and helped and assisted the senior mechanical design engineers and design managers on their projects. My responsibilities involved helping and assisting producing mechanical designs and drawings. At this point I learned how to use Hevacomp as well as attend meetings and use SEC estimating package.I assisted on various projects like food factories and commercial offices, and hotels and military buildings. Notable clients such as Thorntons, Geest, Tinsley Foods and GKN Westland. It was a privilege to work with and learn from three of the most experienced mechanical design engineers in the East Midlands region at that time. The depth of knowledge that I was able to absorb from them and the help and support they gave me provided me with solid foundations on which to go on and build my own career.

CAD Technician
-
Sep 1997 - Jul 1998
Having left six form college in July 1997 aged 17 it was at this point I began my career in Building Services and I was employed as a CAD Technician and was enrolled on the ONC Building Services 2 year course at Basford Hall College, Nottingham, England. As I had no prior experience in AutoCAD I learned how to use this package along with learning how to draw Mechanical and Electrical Building Services. I started off doing minor modifications to drawings and then moved onto supporting engineers in producing the Mechanical and Electrical drawings for their projects. After my first year at college due to obtaining good results I was offered the opportunity to move into the mechanical design department and learn to become a mechanical design engineer. I took this opportunity.
