 I am an ADI based in South Wales and have experience teaching intensive courses along with "normal" driving lessons.  I have worked for Admiral Young Drivers on the odd weekend that I am free, taking out 10 to 17 years on private property preparing them for driving when they are old enough to begin on public roads.  I also work for the local authority (Rhondda Cynon Taf) delivering Mega Drive workshops, along with the police and fire department, educating year 12 students with the potential dangers associated with driving.  At the opposite end of the spectrum I also work alongside age concern, offering driver assessment schemes. This is where I take out older full licence holders who are worried about their driving and give them feedback on their time with us.  All this is alongside my normal day to day driving job, where I deal with people who have their own individual needs such as dyspraxia, autism and the major one, nerves.  Also deliver pass plus both with Pass Plus Cymru and my own pupils.  I work with IAM roadsmart delivering on road training and assessment. Courses are delivered to a national model as prescribed by the NDORS regulatory body. NDORS licence Service Providers to deliver the course content to the national model. Trainers deliver the course prescribed in the national model. National Speed Awareness Course is offered as an alternative to prosecution for an alleged speeding offence, it's a 4 hr workshop designed to help drivers recognise speed limits, address reasons for speeding & provide information to help reduce the likelihood of speeding. Completing the workshop means that drivers will not have to pay the Fixed Penalty Notice or receive penalty points on their licence. The Safe & Considerate Driving Course is a two-part course aimed at drivers who have been involved in a collision without serious consequences, where their driving has amounted to a lapse of concentration/error of judgement. Part 1 of the course is in a classroom, part 2 is conducted on the road under the supervision of a qualified Driving Coach. The course aims to create safer communities by increasing the likelihood that participants drive safely /considerately, in line with the Highway Code. It has the following objectives: Increase understanding of what constitutes safe & considerate driving, & the ways in which the Highway Code supports this. Increase own understanding of the causes & negative consequences – for themselves & for others – of risky/inconsiderate driving. Increase understanding of own susceptibility to these consequences. Increase understanding of the extent to which other road users drive in accordance with the Highway Code – and expect them to do so too. Increase understanding of the importance of concentration, observation, anticipation and allowing adequate space and time. Increase awareness of reasons why their driving is unsafe/inconsiderate, & encourage them to create an action plan to address personally relevant issues. Improve driving behaviours and skills through practical, personalised, on-road coaching Show less
