Assist an Environmental Scientist with her work. My work consists of field work, such as: measuring a river for depth and width, monitoring peregrine falcons on a bridge over the Sakonnet River, conduct stream crossing assessments on culverts for aquatic organism passage and resiliency, and looking at bridges to see if there is a presence of bats living under them. I also use ArcGIS to make maps of bridges and project areas and I help analyze environmental considerations before construction is done on certain projects throughout the state by being a part of the bridge scoping process. I also conduct data entry and I am familiar with reading plans and I am familiar with environmental procedures such as NEPA and the Clean Water Act. Show less

Assisted Dr. Brett Still in conducting field work monitoring at the Bradford Dam site on the Pawcatuck River in Westerly, RI. Assessed riparian vegetation along the river and set up photo stations to track changes overtime due to the removal of the Bradford Dam. Set up baseline fieldwork since this is a long term (5-10 year) grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Federation for Aquatic Connectivity and Flood Resilience. End goal of this project is to come up with a dam removal monitoring guide for the state of Rhode Island for future dam projects. Show less

I patrolled Kettletown State Park to make sure the visitors of the park were following the park rules. I patrolled the whole park, which consists of a campground, lake, and picnic area. I worked closely with the Environmental Police and helped out in the camp office to help out customers and collect fees. Collected fees and explained the park rules to customers in the toll booth. Occasionally patrolled the park if the park rangers needed assistance. I also helped out in the nature center and took customers for a hike to explain the history and the wildlife of Squantz Pond State Park.
