The Auditor-Controller is dedicated to act in a way that will serve the public interest, honor the public trust and demonstrate a commitment to professionalism. The Payroll Division within the County of Santa Barbara handles payroll for over 4,500 employee on a biweekly schedule. The Payroll division handles all aspects of the payroll cycle saving the County, and people, of Santa Barbara over $200,000 dollars annually. As a part time employee I have been asked to complete the following projects for the Payroll Division: -Redesign biweekly payroll process instruction documentation for ease of use, clarity, and accuracy -Create in-person training program and instructional documentation for operation of new, county wide, time card system -Utilize Java Script in new hire process by replicating PDF fields in 65 page new hire packet

The Advanced Accounting division is a dynamic division within the office that handles revenue tracking, special district financial management, fund reorganization, and many more specialized projects that do not fall under another department’s particular preview. As an part time employee, I am responsible for many monthly, quarterly, and yearly tasks, division wide project assistance, as well as development, planning and execution of my own projects. Monthly, Quarterly, and Yearly Responsibilities: -Receive, Track and Distribute over 20 million dollars monthly generated through 30 state revenue sources using access and excel -Perform advanced fund reconciliations and closing journal entries in high audit risk situations -Create monthly, quarterly, and year-end transaction and correction journal entries for accounts with over 5000 transactions utilizing excel functions -Serve as compliance liaison for over 25 districts and 15 revenue recipients -Report and summarize data for use in creating publications intended for the state government and the public Project Based Work: -Interpret FEMA and US Coast Guard guidelines to develop cost breakdowns and justifications for use in the greater than $500,000 cost recovery settlement for the cleanup of the Refugio Oil Spill -Redesign division wide revenue processing training program following “Deming” guidelines -Collect, analyze, and summarize data for presentation of audit risks for management decisions -Construct, with team of programmers, a Microsoft access database to automate the revenue tracking process making it more accurate and consistent
