In this position I assisted in the development of a digital twin of an electric vehicle utilizing three-phase wheel hub mounted electric motors using Ansys. The purpose of the computer model was to assist in the development of a prognostic health management system of the electric vehicle. I was directly responsible for the creation of test plans to acquire thermal damage accumulation data on magnet wire used within electric vehicle motors, writing python code to compare the validity of the digital twin model with respect to the physical electric vehicle, and creating and editing various static Ansys simulations. Assisted in gathering and analyzing data to provide insight into the usage of twin wire arc technology as a means of restorative manufacturing on worn parts with varying functions. In this position I was responsible for performing a suite of tests on substrates coated with metallic coatings by means of twin wire arc and analyzing data. The suite of testing included adhesion testing, and microstructure imaging and microhardness testing on mounted cross-sections of coated substrates. Data from the testing suite was analyzed to gather insights into the mechanical properties of the metallic coatings as a function of the coating parameters such as nozzle stand-off distance and arc current. In this position I was also responsible for various side-projects which required me to generate various CAD models and assemblies using Solidworks and corresponding bills of materials, python simulations, and Excel workbooks.
