300 hours were completed with the North Peel ACTT of SHIP. I met clients in their home and co-facilitate the meetings with all of the team members that included psychiatric nurses, addictions specialist, social workers, and mental health workers. Home visits included: checking in with the client, providing resolutions for anxiety or cognitive distortions that the clients may have due to psychosis, or other mental health concerns like addiction or depression. I was able to witness the process of completing a form 2 at old city hall. Learning outcomes: increased knowledge of the mental health act and how it applies to the client. Increased knowledge of schizophrenia and the spectrum of conditions that the clients present with. Increased knowledge of anti-psychotic medication and the side effects. Show less
