In the role of System’s Architect, My responsibilities included: ● System maintenance, capacity planning, monitoring and upgrades. ● Researching, presenting and leading the implementation of new technologies and upgrades that improved the overall efficiency of the company's web operations. Some of my accomplishments include: ● Researched and implemented log4j and an ELK stack (Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana) which increased developer productivity by allowing access to application logs to quickly identify issues. This implementation also allowed a more streamlined approach to archiving old logs by uploading them directly to AWS Glacier for long term low cost storage. ● Researched and implemented a new monitoring system (Datadog) to augment the current real time monitoring. The new monitoring system introduced historical graphing, alerting and analysis as well as application level metrics that offered never before seen insights into application functionality and business. ● Implemented a hybrid cloud approach using AWS which allowed the IT and development teams to have more flexibility by allocating resources as needed. This also controlled costs because resources could be allocated and deallocated based on need without the requirement of hardware planning and purchasing. Show less

As an Internet Systems Engineer, My responsibilities included: ●Assisting customers with a wide variety of issues including email setup and troubleshooting, website setup and code troubleshooting in various languages (PHP, Ruby, ASP.NET (c# and vb.net). ●Planning, installation and configuration of new customer equipment and websites using Apache, Nginx, Linux, IIS, Windows Server 2003 and 2008, SQL Server 2005 and 2008, Active Directory. As the Director of Networking, my responsibilities included: ●Leading a team of 4 in the design, implementation and maintenance of the corporate and customer networks using technologies from a variety of vendors such as Cisco, Juniper and Sonicwall. ●Working directly with customer contacts and project managers to determine needs and advise them on the appropriate solution. ●Hold regular meetings with upper management to advise them on the current status of projects as well as recommendations to improve current network systems. ●Ensure high level support for customer and company networks that included setting up VPNs between customer locations, configuring routing and vlans and ensuring secure end to end communication. Some of my accomplishments include: ●Design and implementation of company VoIP system using Asterisk. ●Integrating Asterisk with ZeroLag Control (proprietary CMS and hardware management system), Request Tracker (Ticket Management) and Skype to automatically create tickets from support calls. This streamlined the support process by ensuring a ticket was created for each call and ensuring the team was notified via Skype when a new ticket was created. Each call was also recorded and added to the ticket to ensure quality support throughout the entire process. ●Lead the team that designed and maintained the ZeroLag security platform based on Gentoo Linux. This platform allowed for granular configuration of firewall rules, VPN tunnels using a variety of technologies (OpenVPN, Ipsec (IKEV1 and 2), GRE, MPLS, etc) Show less
