FMRA partners with clients to design for equity in the civic realm. We believe the future of our society will be the product of all our voices - from the least to the most enfranchised citizens of our community. It will be more resilient because it will celebrate polyvocality, mutual respect, and equity. We use the tools and tactics of design thinking, human centered design, architecture, and urban design to help our clients realize their part of this vision. Jason Lee joined Continuum in 2013, bringing with him ten years of experience as an architect and urban designer in Europe, Asia and North America. He is passionate about designing spatial, energetic and social systems to enhance user experience across all scales - from product to architecture to urban. In his capacity as Senior Designer, he participates in projects across the organization's offerings from strategy to environments and advanced systems. He is also responsible for expanding Continuum's offering into the realm of architecture, urban design and strategic planning/design. At Continuum, Jason has worked with one of the nation’s largest restaurant chains, to rebuild their entire brand – from food to menu to brand experience. He has also worked with one of the nation’s largest home improvement retailers to strategize and envision the future of big box store in the age of multichannel retail. Most recently he worked with the Department of Homeland Security of the Future of the first responder and a non-profit CCRC provider in Southern California to develop a middle income urban housing model for seniors. In 2014, Jason led an internal team to design a house for the year 2050 entitled ‘The House of Z’. Show less

Jason was honored to join the teaching team of IIT's College of Architecture for the Fall semester 2013 and Spring semester 2014 at the behest of Dean Arets and program Director Vedran Mimica. As part of the new CLOUD STUDIO offering for all degree programs within the college, Jason developed a studio entitled: Systems Theory and Urban Form: Remapping Chicago through the lens of Thermodynamics. A short description of the studio ambition: With our more nuanced understanding of energy, arrived at through systems theory and thermodynamics, our current appreciation of the finite nature of fuel resources, and as our metropolises mature away from industrial hubs into information / knowledge centers, it is necessary to reimagine the relationship between living, working, energy production, energy consumption and industrial processes. This studio will attempt to address the questions: Can we reconfigure programmatic relationships and adjacencies at the urban scale to create productive energy cascades and derive maximum power from energetic systems? And, how will a more comprehensive understanding of energy influence the form of the future metropolis? A full description of the studio and the entire CLOUD STUDIO offering is available here: http://www.iitcoadatacloud.com/strands/design/cloud-studios/ Please follow the student work through our BLOG: http://remappingchicago.wordpress.com/ Show less
