  Studied a lead-tolerant yeast strain, Rhospiridium paludigenum, isolated from a chat pile (Waste pile from Lead mining) in Southern Missouri. This organism showed the unique ability to tolerate high lead concentrations by internalizing and comparmentalizing excess lead.
