I started with Hewland Engineering as an apprentice. I followed a training plan that allowed me to gain knowledge of all areas of the company, which included machining, assembly, stores & sales, production control & management, inspection, design & support and IT. Upon completing my advanced modern apprenticeship a year early I was offered a permanent position in Hewland’s design office as a design and project engineer. In that time I worked on various projects for some of the biggest names in motorsport including Ferrari, Mercedes, Audi, F2 and WTCC. I worked as part of the design team for numerous transmission projects for all levels of motorsport, which involved 3D modelling, drafting and detailing and FE analysis of transmission components and assemblies. I played a pivotal role in the design, development and implementation of Hewland’s semi automatic shift system. I also performed the calibration of the Pi gearbox control unit for a number of successful racing cars including the 2012 DTM cars, Ferrari 458 GT2/GT3 cars and supported them at test and race events all around Europe. Customer Relations Representative

Mar 2004 - Sep 2004
While I was employed with them I worked on the customer relations team that dealt with customer complaints regarding the miss-sale of their prudential policies. My main duties were to trace the prudential representatives who arranged the client’s policies and to write to them for their response to the clients concerns. In some instances this also meant speaking to former representatives over the telephone. I had to analyse each complaint to make sure we had all the information to solve the clients concerns. I also did any ad-hoc jobs that were given to me. Show less
