Rarely have I met someone so passionate and meticulous about analysis work as Jasmine. And up to today, I envy her relentless approach to this. This includes not only constantly challenging her work but also supporting others by checking out their work. And helping them to overcome those challenges, sharing her knowledge and experience. At the same time, she was teaching team members and educating stakeholders on the nuances of analytical work she was also constantly in the process of extending her skills. Again inspiring others with this. One of my favorite examples of her training others is her very successful taking over the lead of a Junior Analyst who just started in the data field. While the end of our work together came abruptly, I observed how she adjusted to the new circumstances and became an unofficial leader for the remaining team. And within that, she ensured the continuation of the established culture of collaboration and learning.

As the second full-time data hire at Kaia, I used SQL and BI tools to drive data-informed decision making across the business, helping raise data literacy and data quality and acting as a sounding board for stakeholders and the Analytics team as we grew. Leadership and Management: In the last 5 months of my time at Kaia, I was responsible for the team's OKR planning, working with stakeholders and the team to identify the most impactful topics for the coming months. I also managed a junior product analyst for a year, acting as a sounding board and helping out wherever they encountered any blockers. Product Analysis: I was embedded in the Activation team, focussed on bringing user behaviour data and exploratory analysis to discovery discussions, event instrumentation, and A/B test evaluation. This helped the team figure out new ways to engage with users and achieve that ‘Aha!’ moment. During this time, I developed and built Kaias first North Star metric. Business Analysis: Working with the EU Commercial team, I developed and built the EU billing reporting and self-serve data model. This included building tables, writing LookML, building dashboards and guiding the team through using the data themselves. Marketing Analysis: I worked extensively with the CRM team to troubleshoot and quality check Kaias CRM data, making improvements to the self-serve data model to fit the team's requirements and enabling confident campaign performance monitoring. Clinical Analysis: Developing new metrics based on clinical trial metric definitions. I created dashboards to allow the clinical team to monitor trial progress, identifying underperforming study sites and enabling the clinical team to take early intervention with any issues. Data Education and Literacy: I ran a number of analytics bootcamp sessions to help build data literacy across the company, on topics such as “How to use Looker”, “Analytical Skills” and “Planning and Running A/B Tests” Show less

Partner Revenue: Worked with the Finance and Partner team on projects to help partners ensure they are charged correctly, calculating rebates for specific partners and providing insight on orders, as well as giving guidance on process changes required to prevent recurring issues. BI Tool and Warehouse Migration: Migrating dashboards from Qlikview to Tableau and Redshift to Snowflake, auditing the information shown to ensure dashboards continued to be relevant and used. Warehouse Migration: Led the transition from Redshift to BigQuery for the Data Analytics Team. I learned the new syntax, identified and prioritised impacted dashboards and tables, teaching the team how to confidently use BigQuery and migrate their dashboards by a deadline. Trade Reporting: Prepared weekly reports for the B2C management team and Board, going on to automate this towards the end of my time at the FT. Dashboards: Created dashboards for multiple teams, from Paid Marketing to Acquisitions. One dashboard example was “News by Email”, monitoring newsletter subscriber volumes and growth to categorise and prioritise marketing efforts. Exploratory Analysis: Using Tableau for adhoc and deep dive analysis. One example project was examining Net Promoter Score (NPS) correlated metrics using histograms, scatter and jitter charts. Editorial Project: Analysing the FT’s coverage of the 2017 German Election gave the editorial team insight into what aspects of the series resonated well with which readers and what other relevant content could drive increased engagement.
