I started my career at M&S as a seasonal assistant and quickly worked my way up through business into a management role undergoing intense management training and attending workshops to enhance my existing skills and build new ones. My last role at Marks and Spencer was a Section Manager in the third biggest store in the business. My role in such a premium store meant I was exposed to senior visitors including the director of retail which gave me great confidence to be able to have a voice within the organisation and make changes alongside working with pace and delegating to ensure jobs get completed to high standards. The last team I line managed consisted of 22 employees and my biggest duty was to ensure that they were focused and engaged to give great service in order to drive sales and contribute towards achieving the business goals. Main Duties; - Managing absence and conducting appropriate return to work conversations. -Managing complex absence cases, following policy correct processes in line with company policy leading to successful, appropriate outcomes. - Embedding a performance management culture; Performance managing employees who are not meeting their job role or business requirements in line with business competencies. - Recruitment of employees, usually fixed term over busy periods so resulting with a high volume of candidates in short amounts of time. - Engaging line reports on what the business is doing so everyone can work as a team. - Ensure myself and my line reports comply with company policies and procedures and dealing with any discrepancies that arose. - Conducting investigations when policy's are not adhered too and then following those through to disciplinary hearings. - Reacting to the ever-changing economic climate and ensuring I hit my daily, weekly and monthly sales plans. - Pay, holiday and staffing queries alongside the HR shared services team. Following personal circumstances, I took a break from full time work at Marks and Spencer and embarked on an adventure for 5 months. I visited Peru, Chile, Australia, New Zealand, Tanzania and Kenya. Whilst travelling I climbed Killijmanjaro, Tanzania for a charity close to my heart Breakthrough Breast Cancer and was fortunate enough to work in schools and orphanages in Africa.
