Madeira Beach, FL During my tenure with Gulf&Bay Divers, I worked remotely from Ruston, Louisiana and Atlanta, GA. My primary responsibilities were keeping all client files up to date by coordinating with our team of divers, accurately tracking payroll each week, and providing customer service to our clients. While I was office manager, I helped develop Gulf&Bays marketing program and created a customer tracking database by which we could better understand our customer retention trends.

My biggest achievement during my time at the USF BCM was starting a pregnancy testing program on campus in coordination with A Woman's Place to help educate young women facing unplanned pregnancy about their options, and ultimately, to share the gospel with them. During my time with USF BCM, I had the honor of presenting at the state conference for Crisis Pregnancy Centers about the importance of pregnancy testing programs on college campuses and instructed on best practices. My main responsibility was to support the Project Managers with any project documentation they needed. Regular duties included updating project logs with new project expenses, note taking for meetings and conference calls, and developing templates in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to help streamline processes and save the Project Mangers time. For each project, I put together the Field Project Documentation Binders to provide essential project information for the installation technician on site, developed touch panel trainings and quick reference guides in PowerPoint, and compiled close out documentation, which included the equipment Operator and Maintenance Manuals. While the above stated tasks were typical of my weekly responsibilities, I often was called upon to help with assignments atypical of my role, such as supporting the Engineering team, or helping the technicians prepare the demo warehouse for incoming customers. As the intern, I simultaneously supported up to five Project Mangers, each with their own managing style and preferences. Through this experience, I was able to learn the practice of Project Management from many different perspectives, taking best practices and lessons learned for future reference in my professional career. The biggest lesson I have taken away from my internship is the importance of preparation and clear, timely communication. For example, conference calls are more effective when the individual running the call has a clear understanding of the purpose of the call and has prepared a meeting agenda ahead of time to assist in communicating that purpose efficiently. My experience at AVI-SPL was invaluable in learning about how businesses function in the "real world." For example, I learned how different departments within an organization interact with each other and methods for developing a healthy work culture. Show less
