Working at the transfer center has allowed me to challenge myself with new ventures. Here, I worked as a student assistant in the classroom. My role was to extend help to fellow transfer students and share my journey with them. Within our groups at the transfer center I was in charge of coordinating with others and creating events for the transfer students. I focused mainly on wellness for students throughout the semester. This position allowed me to connect with students and help them navigate their transition to UC Berkeley. Show less

Writing Center Tutor
-
Jun 2015 - Aug 2018
At the Writing Center, I tutored many English Second Language Learners and Disabled Students. I was able to conduct sessions and lesson plan for future appointments. We covered how to use different format styles, including MLA, APA, and Chicago. The Writing Center helped me become resilient to coming up with personalized lesson plans that catered to each personality. After working in the Writing Center for a short amount of time, I was promoted to tutor students in their classrooms as a supplement to their ongoing course. I was required to hold two group sessions each week where I created lesson plans that involved utilizing technology and handouts. This job allowed for me to understand what teaching a class would actually entail. I was also required to hold one on one sessions outside of the group sessions. These sessions allowed for me to build on the small individual goals set for each student. Show less
