      The Montpelier Foundation and The National Historic Trust Foundation maintain the James Madison estate and it's 2500+ acre historic property of the United States' late fourth President and founding father. As a volunteer student archaeologist at the laboratory, it was my responsibility in handling and processing the artifacts collected in field excavation at Montpelier during the previous summers' excavations. The artifacts collected in these excavations include; glass, both bottle and window panes; ceramics, such as flatware, stoneware and porcelain; metal, mostly nails and occasional ammunitions; animal bones, for sustenance and utilitarian purposes; and seeds.
