Goed in staat complexe, inhoudelijke vraagstukken te vertalen naar de dagelijkse (ontwerp)praktijk en de vertaling van die inhoud naar het waterveiligheidsbeleid.Gepromoveerd in de Technische Wiskunde (TU-Delft) op het gebied van de analyse van grootschalige systemen. Titel proefschrift: "Stochastic Environmental Models".Gespecialiseerd in: - Overstromingsrisico's en de toepassing daarvan binnen Nederlands beleid (Wettelijk Beoordelingsinstrumentarium, Ontwerpinstrumentarium)- Uitvoeren van beleidsanalyses- Hydraulische Belastingen in alle watersystemen in Nederland- Statistische en probabilistische modellen voor waterveiligheid (Hydra-modellen, Riskeer)Onderzoeksinteresses: werken met onzekerheden en doorvertaling naar beleid, faalpaden bij waterkeringen, tijdsafhankelijke modellering van falen, fragility curves.
