You rarely come across a standout creative thinker and doer like Jan. I met him during his Volkswagen Interplant exchange program at Volkswagen plant Chattanooga, having him working in the industrial engineering and production systems department. Jan takes on several essential tasks such as moderating efficiency workshops, working in project teams, and sharing knowledge between the Volkswagen plants on lean processes, sustainability, and agile strategic methods for increased entrepreneurial spirit within departments. Above all, I was particularly impressed by how quickly and well Jan get along with my team making it viable to bring his creative ideas in and put them to work with the team by making them their views. His outstanding hands-on mentality, his dedication, and work ethic combined with his remarkably personably, allowing those around him to have joy, making Jan an ideal team member or project lead.

I had the chance to work with Jan just for a coupe of weeks. His empathic aproach, his focus, his dedication and his motivation captivated me from the beginning. It was a pleasure to work with you, and hope to meet you again in other/new projects.

With the transition to e-mobility, autonomous driving, digital life cycle management, sustainability, and new forms of collaboration and work at the Volkswagen Group, a pivotal step for myself was the logical step - with joy. With my deep understanding of the automotive sector combined with the right heart- and mindset for new methods, technology, and entrepreneurial design, I am bridging the gaps between tomorrow and today and sometimes even between the day after tomorrow and yesterday. I serve in several different roles with a systemic approach, supporting people working better together - always with the human and a better tomorrow for everyone everywhere in mind. Show less

    • Agile Coach SAP S4/HANA
      • Apr 2021 - Sep 2021

As an Agile Coach, I focused on using short development cycles (called 'sprints') that allow the project and my teams to adapt to rapidly changing environments - within the Volkswagen Group and the world - in a highly collaborative manner. I was responsible for creating and improving these agile processes within my excellent teams of the 1Log (oneLog) Logistic SAP S4/HANA Volkswagen Group project. From external contractors to project management and product management up to the IT and software development teams, I connected the (agile) dots within the Volkswagen Group and beyond:I coached, mentored, and guided our people to figure out the best solutions for their specific challenges in the SAP project. I have analyzed the organization's existing infrastructure and implemented improvements to help streamline processes and create efficiencies. Ultimately, I worked on the long-term (agile) strategy across the entire organization, enabling our teams to deliver better products faster, more efficiently.Key takeaway: There is no Product owner - the whole team, everyone is the owner. After three instructive and exciting years at Management Accounting of Volkswagen, I decided to follow one of my passions: Lean Thinking. My academic background in the Toyota Production System, combined with my prior experience and network at Volkswagen, was the ideal start conditions to embrace a holistic approach on my job as a Continues Improvement Coach and Process designer.Key takeaway:It all starts with you and continues when you leave. That is lean.

    • Management Accounting Manager
      • Mar 2011 - Feb 2014

While working as a planning manager, I often worked closely with colleagues from the Management Accounting Department. This brought my attention to their work in general. I want to learn and understand management accounting and how it supports the whole company and its departments to reach their goals and thrive. Key takeaway: Management Accounting is not an island. It is a train station: It connects, it has to think holistically, it tries to understand the past and imagines the future to give guidance in the present for the management. Show less

After my university degree, I started as a planning engineer and project manager for the upcoming new Volkswagen Passat. It was the right place at the right time for me just after leaving the university; it laid the foundation in many ways for all my following jobs.Key takeaway: Bring the right people together in one room, listen to them, and determine goals & responsibilities.
