A Celebration Day for Girls is a 1.5-day weekend workshop developed by Jane Bennett in 2000 for 10-12-year-old girls with their mother/woman carer to provide an affirming, grounded welcome to puberty and their menstrual cycle. The program includes facilitated discussion, craft and group activities, storytelling and simple ceremony. Having successfully delivered these workshops for over seven years, I'm now part of an international team doing regional training for new facilitators in over 20 countries. Please contact me if you're interested in holding one for your daughter and her friends. Ph: 0408 664 919 Email: contact.janoel@gmail.com

A positive, reassuring and clear program on the range of experiences that girls and boys go through on puberty's journey to adolescence and becoming an adult. We balance practical information with activities and gentle humour, giving students a safe space to learn over a series of sessions. Topics include not just the usual sexuality education about how our bodies menstruate or make sperm, but also body image, power plays in friend politics, coping strategies and self-care. Our eight week program is delivered by our facilitators in 2 hour sessions, with support for class teachers. We hold a parent information session to engage students' families before the program begins, encouraging appropriate language and understanding of our right to ask for what we need and keep our bodies safe and healthy. Please contact Janoel to discuss how our program can assist your children get the reliable, helpful information they need to make a positive start to adulthood.
