Janis is one of the most caring and knowledgeable elder care attorneys that I know. I've know Janis for years and she always goes above and beyond for her clients. Highly recommend!

My Mom and I worked with Janis over a period of two or three years regarding my aunt's estate and conservatorship. Janis is knowledgeable, caring, and an expert in her field. I would highly recommend her services. THANK YOU!

As the sole attorney at the boutique law firm of The Law Offices of Janis A. Carney, I am able to personally provide for the estate planning and long-term care planning needs of my clients. However, unlike most estate planning attorneys, I not only address the question of "what will happen when I die", but I also address the much more complex question of "what will happen when I don't die!" Of course, we all must die sometime, but most estate planning attorneys and even many elder law attorneys rarely spend much, if any, time working through the issues of aging and incapacity. Rarely does a typical estate planner consider the costs of long-term care, making sure you get the health and personal care you want and need as you age, protecting your quality of your life (which means staying independent as long as possible to most people) and preserving and protecting your assets from the costs of long-term care so that you and leave them to your loved ones when you pass away. At Carney Elder Law, I work with you (and your family, if applicable) to develop a plan that addresses and answers all of your concerns about the legal, financial and care issues of aging as well as preserving your assets for your family when you are gone. Ease Plan Inc. was created to provide private professional health care advocacy, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to seniors and others in the Silicon Valley (Santa Clara County and some of the neighboring counties) of California. Unfortunately, although this was and is a much needed service, it was probably before its time as consumers do not yet understand its value and their absolute need for it given our healthcare system. Therefore, for purely business reasons, I closed EASE Plan as a separate business on July 31, 2015. However, I have brought the core services of EASE Plan, care coordination and patient advocacy, into my law firm, Carney Elder Law, where we will continue to provide these valuable services to those in our community who need them. Thank you to everyone who supported EASE Plan and our dedication to helping local seniors and others to get the health care and personal care they needed and deserved. While EASE Plan is no-more, the heart of our commitment lives on at Carney Elder Law where I now am providing "care coordination and advocacy services" through staff who are health care and/or patient rights professionals. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you or your fiends or relatives need a health care professional to be their patient advocate and liaison with medical providers and insurance companies or need help with assessing personal care needs and coordinating and providing access to resources to provide care services and goods.
