      Fullfilled the role of Company Secretary for Golden Lane Housing.Golden Lane Housing works with people with a learning disability to provide supported housing around which they can build their lives. We were established as an independent registered charity by Mencap in 1998 to help tackle the immense challenges that people with a learning disability face in finding a home.Since its inception they have invested £108.5 million transforming the lives of over 1,940 people with a wide range of needs in more than 940 properties across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each year they house over 100 people and continually find innovate ways to provide suitable housing solutions in this ever changing society. Show less

      I joined The Royal Mencap Society in 1996 to establish Golden Lane Housing as an independent registered charity. Its purpose is to help tackle the immense challenges that people with a Learning disability face in finding a home. Golden Lane Housing works with people with a learning disability to provide supported housing around which they can build their lives. Since its inception it has invested £102.6 million transforming the lives of over 1,850 people with a wide range of needs in more than 880 properties across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. Each year GLH house over 100 people and continues to find innovate ways to provide suitable housing solutions. After being Director of the Charity until 2003, GLH remained part of my directorate and I have remained Company Secretary until May 2019. I oversaw four public retail bonds raising £30m for new housing. In 2014 its retail bond was the first charity bond to be listed on the London Stock Exchange’s Order Book for Retail Bonds and the London Stock market was opened by a man with learning disability.
