  I work in a middle school with grades 6th-8th. My program spans three areas; parents, students, and colleagues. I disseminate information to parents about opportunities for advancement in school, our community, and online. I have designed a dynamic learning environment that is responsive to individual student characteristics providing scaffolding to support advanced project work and research. Collaboration with teachers results in modifications to general education classrooms which better support the needs of high-academic learners. I led a building service project with my PTO called "Guest Teacher Gratitude" in which students each day delivered a small treat to the substitute teachers in the building each day. Show less

  I designed a service program that met the needs of students with small group and whole classroom co-curricular instruction. I led staff through the identification process using multiple data collections including norm-referenced and anecdotal notes. Collaboration with the local Area Education Agency staff, my Drake Gifted and Talented professor, and Urbandale Extended Learning Program colleagues resulted in expanding the program from two teachers to five. I led the building "Clickers Club" which was an experience in robotics, stop motion, and internet safety. I also led a runners club for girls. I organized and supported student service action projects throughout the building such as plant beautification in the spring, also organizing student families to maintain and water the flowers during the summer months.
