Janie contacted me wanting to help support The Growing Club CIC. Since then she and Peter have worked with me to draw up a branding plan fully understanding our financial limitations and the range of programmes we offer. They have created a smart and friendly look for us and I can not wait for it to go public next month. We are hugely grateful for this help. It is almost impossible for a small social enterprise to be able to divert resources to something like this, but as Janie understood that without it we risk not attracting significant funding. Thank you so much for seeing us and adopting us Janie.

I've always loved working with Janie and her team. Janie is one of those perfect combinations of expertise, wisdom and instinct. Oh, and just a lovely, collaborative person. She's the genuine deal when it comes to marketing skills (both the science and the creativity!) and has a infectious approach to any project. If you want to work alongside a enthusiastic, skilled, positive and friendly marketing expert, work with Janie!

I couldn't be more thrilled to be an Entrepreneur In Residence at Lancaster University. I have a diverse history of entrepreneurial endeavours. I started Better with Jam to create a different kind of marketing agency, built around collaboration, the active pursuit of happiness and great ideas. My 20-year relationship with LUMS has spanned a Masters in Marketing, leadership and business programmes, working with students on various projects and acting as a supplier. Late in 2017, I became an EiR. My first assignment was to give a talk to students in which I discussed making business ideas a reality. “Young people need help to bridge that transition from leaving uni to starting careers in the real world,” she says. “And there’s a lot, as entrepreneurs, as businesses, that we can do to give them a practical grounding and help them find their way.”Entrepreneurs-in-Residence (EiR) at Lancaster University community helps students and faculty to learn from SMEs – about how to develop ideas and deal with challenges, about the impact of change and the skills needed to succeed in today’s marketplace. Dating back to 2008 and our notion of bringing in a ‘cultural irritant’ to challenge our own programmes, this evolving initiative now comprises a network of 50 EiRs, each spending 2-3 days on campus a year, mentoring students in numerous ways.

I am the Managing Director of food branding agency, Better with Jam.My journey to becoming one of North’s leading marketers has been colourful and varied, and given me the experience needed to run a successful creative agency. I had had a film script optioned by 20th Century Fox, helped to set up radio stations in Lancaster and Belfast, and headed up a numberof marketing agencies – all the time building my reputation as a brand strategist. I love to work with clients who would rather outsmart the competition than outspend them. My team has innovation, creativity and original thinking hard-wired into their DNA – and we absolutely love helping hospitality, food and drinks businesses get noticed.
