Despina ("Debi") Dalton, MD, MBA, CPE, RPh, FAAP, FACHE

I have known Janet for over 20 years and during that time, I have continually been impressed - though not surprised – by her accomplishments and successful track record of performance. I first met Janet while completing my pediatric residency in emergency medicine at The Children’s Hospital of Buffalo when she was the Division Manager of the Emergency Department. I watched Janet transform from a bright, young and eager administrator into a well accomplished, polished and successful leader. She is now and has always been a very diligent and dedicated person who is passionate and fully committed to whatever she does. She is committed to continued education and professional growth as evidence by the completion of her Master’s Degree in Business in 2005 and targeted completion of her PhD in organizational development (2013). Janet was able to run an organization, stay committed to personal and professional growth while raising two young sons. Over the years, I have watched her refine her now razor sharp skills in strategy, organization, implementation and leading. Knowing her from her humble beginnings and watching her develop into the top notch business leader and executive that she is today was inspiring. She has the great and unique ability to gain consensus, encourage and motivate all who work with her, and to generally be well liked by all who meet her.

Lori G. Leal, CPA, MBA

Janet is a charismatic leader who inspires others to be the best they can be. I am thankful to have had the opportunity to work for Janet for more than 10 years in my role as CFO. Janet embodies the attributes of a true leader –she serves others before herself, which is an extreme contrast to other leaders who put themselves first. Under her leadership and guidance, our organization won the GA Oglethorpe Award in 2007, the state of Georgia’s equivalent to the national Malcolm Baldrige Award. Rarely in my experience with organizations have I encountered an executive with the depth and breadth of knowledge about how organizations function, and are able to thrive in a changing environment. She is renowned for her universally warm relations with colleagues in related organizations in healthcare. She grasps situations quickly, and is willing to explore new ideas. NCCPA’s success as an organization is in large part due to Janet Lathrop’s support and nurturing.
