Directed annual revenues of $48 M and $11 M in endowed funds for the operation of the Law School. Conceptualized and co-founded the Group on Law School Administration and Finance and successfully petitioned the American Association of Law Schools for section approval. Inaugural meeting was held in January 2013 and programming is underway for the next annual meeting in 2014. Initiated annual budget process developing quarterly departmental expenditure reporting and statue meetings with departmental leadership to provide forecasting and improved metrics for fiscal budgeting. Initiated a five year capital plan defining funding amounts and sources for building improvements and renovations. Renovated Crowder Courtyard to improve student experience and installed wireless internet to improved connectivity. Identified underutilized space and initiated meeting with student governance to ascertain current needs and redevelopment of space. Collaborated with University Accounts Payable Office and University Information Technology to develop an electronic check reimbursement system providing the Law School as the Beta site. Primary member of the the Planning Committee for the demolition, site analysis, concept, and construction of the Robert H. Lurie Medical Research Center, a state of the art, $208 M multidisciplinary research facility opened in 2006. Directed $64 M space renovation which identified out-dated and under utilized office space in prime Medical School buildings to convert to research laboratories. Identified commercial sites for departmental office space and negotiated leases for over 200,000 square feet of commercial real estate. Developed best practices for departments and centers involving space management, Human Resources, research compliance, and general department management. Participated in the development of a school financial model which created incentives for departments and centers to expand clinical research funding and collectively determine the strategic research mission of the School. Collaborated with Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Hospital on joint space planning efforts which addressed departmental needs across functional lines (research, education, patient care) resulting in consolidating departmental space needs independent of space location and owner. Collaborated with the Office of Change Management, Basic Science departments, and Human Resources in developing a staffing framework which focused on essential needs of managing a department and skill set necessary to meet these needs successfully. Adoption of framework resulted in position classification equity across departments and reduced unsubstantiated influence over the HR classification system. Show less
