  I helped the Department of Education and local language communities design and test orthographies, primers, and basic literacy materials and to train primary school teachers to use the vernacular and transition literacy materials in the frist three years of primary school education. I also help to adapt and offer a work place training course called a Certificate in Translating that was accredited by the Australian government. I trained teams of minorty language speakers in Vanuatu to discover how their language worked and to use good translation principles for translation materials from Bislama, the national language and English into their vernacular languages.
