Admissions Counselor: Celebrating my 20th year at BRLS!
-
Jan 2011 - Present
To address a critical need of BRLS I smoothly transitioned the focus of my energies and organizational skills to the admissions program in January 2011.I am responsible for the over-all promotion of Baton Rouge Lutheran School with the goal of increasing and maintaining school enrollment. The essence of this position requires I develop relationships with a multitude of individuals and groups who, directly and indirectly, are related to our school and its mission. While this one aspect of development takes precedence in my current work responsibilities, I continue to be responsible for all areas of development planning and implementation. I consider adaptation of my professional role to be a necessary component of my work philosophy and job success. Show less

Development Director
-
Jun 1997 - Jan 2011
"Development" has been described as "everything that promotes school image." My job responsibilities were numerous and varied. I established a good relationship and worked cooperatively with school board members, school staff and faculty, church staff, students and families in planning activities and implementing policies designed to build awareness, understanding and acceptance of the school and its programs; sought to achieve the priorities set for the school's future by the school board and principal; and coordiinated efforts to encourage each family and individual student to feel that "their" school was an important part of their lives. As only the second development director in the history of this school, I completely revamped all programs and policies relating to communication, marketing and public relations, student recruitment and retention, and in-house and "third source" fundraising strategies. My employment at SLKF followed 12 years at The Runnels School, Baton Rouge, as teacher and staff member.
