  My philosophy of teaching is that to educate a child, we must take into consideration the whole child and meet them where they are, taking into consideration, their social and emotional learning as well as their academics. Early in my career, I taught both Emotional and Learning support students who needed behavioral and educational assistance within the classroom. In 1998, I was moved to a 3rd grade regular education classroom and for the next 21 years alternated between 3rd and 4th grade. In 2019, I was asked to move to Kindergarten and have loved it. Our school is a STEAM Magnet and I am trained in Project Based Learning. My certification areas are Elementary and Special Education, and I received my Master's Degree in English as a Second Language. While I have not utilized my certification within a brick and mortar building, I have tutored Early Language Learners outside of my home for the past 4 years. Show less
