  The Family Development Center is the campus child care center for UCCS. I have worked there for many years in a variety of positions. As an administrative assistant and new staff trainer, my duties included new staff training, record keeping for employee training hours, developing new training according to NECPA accreditation standards, answering phones in the absence of a receptionist, closing facility and other office related responsibilities.   Education has always been my passion! I achieved my group lead qualification for Early Childhood Education when I was about 19 years old. I spent many years working in a variety of group lead positions until I was made Lead Teacher at the Family Development Center in August of 2007. My responsibilities in this position included maintaining a safe and effective learning environment in compliance with Colorado licensing standards and NECPA Accreditation standards, creating and implementing a curriculum based on developmentally-appropriate practices, interacting with both children and parents in a respectful manner, classroom setup, and general classroom management.
