Three words: Best Boss Ever. Jane is a pleasure to work with. A welcoming workplace environment is extremely important and she fostered a culture of mutual respect and fun. None of us wake up dreading coming into the office and we care about the over reputation of the ABA Criminal Justice Section. She supported work-life balance, and is very understanding of issues may arise away from the office allowing us to do the best for the association without sacrificing our personal lives. She afforded us opportunities to travel with the association while allowing us to opt out if needed, enhancing our work ethic in order to serve the association to the best of our abilities. In my case, Jane gave me a chance to grow at the association in a way that no one else would. Under her leadership I became a manager, and developed senior-level public relations and marketing skills. Jane provided all the support, space, and financial and labor resources to do my job to the best of my ability. She ensured that I had access to professional development trainings, provided the resources to implement video production services for the section, allowed me free reign to market and communicate as I saw fit in order to increase attendance and support for our conferences. She does not micromanage, unless it is needed. She believed her staff was competent and independent enough to do their jobs with out having her oversee every single aspect, while maintaining a unified vision. I enjoy working for the ABA Criminal Justice Section, and it is mainly because of Jane’s influence and guidance. I would work with and/or for her again if the opportunity arose.
