Develop, present, and write funding opportunity announcements, resulting in hundreds of new projects focused on understanding and combating resistant bacterial infections. Led trans-divisional strategic planning teams to comprehensively assess scientific needs and priorities in infectious disease research, including vaccines, diagnostics, antibiotics, and other therapeutics. Initiated, organized, and conducted numerous workshops, conferences, and symposia, working with interagency, and global experts to advance the development of antibiotics, diagnostics, vaccines, non-traditional therapeutic products, and innovative clinical trial designs. Developed, oversaw, and provided access to NIAID’s preclinical services for researchers. Develop strategic documents, such as NIAID’s Antibiotic Resistance Research Framework and the CARB National Action Plan, by driving consensus among multiple stakeholders. Deliver oral presentations and develop written briefing documents to promote NIAID’s antibacterial resistance programs to scientists, international collaborators, institute leadership, members of congress, and the general public Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on trans-governmental taskforces and working groups on Antimicrobial Resistance, including: o Combating Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria (CARB) Task Force o Presidential Advisory Council on CARB, including presenting NIAID updates at public meetings. o Trans-Atlantic Task Force on Antimicrobial Resistance (TATFAR), including leading the development of initial recommendations in 2011 and co-authoring the 2014 Implementation Report
