In addition to a block placement as part of my degree studies, I also volunteered throughout 2010 at Forefield, working in both year one and nursery classes, gaining hands-on experience of the principles of the EYFS in a practical setting. My main responsibility in year one was to take the lower achievers for additional phonics sessions and group/individual reading sessions as well as general help and observations in the nursery setting. I also choreographed the dance finale of the school’s Christmas play as well as assisting in all rehearsals and costume-making.
