  In July 2016, Shine ceased to be an independent NGO, merging with PSN to become a service division. This decision was suggested and wholly supported by me because despite Shine's public profile, success and size within the specialist family violence sector, I did not think that we would ever be able to achieve our strategic objectives and obtain real traction with this huge issue facing New Zealand unless we grew much bigger. After a number of years of considering options, the decision was made to join PSN, which is one of New Zealand's largest NGOs with over 1000 employees. Within a short time of becoming part of PSN, we felt the power of a huge engine behind us propelling our mission forward.
