Program Manager, Nunavut Management Development Program-Sivuliuqtit
-
1996 - 1998
Sivuliuqtit was a program delivered by NAC (Government of Nunavut) and CCMD (Canadian Center for Management Development-Government of Canada) to enable a cadre of Inuit (max 75) to develop their management and leadership skills in preparation for the division of the NWT/Nunavut Territory. I am pleased to say that the graduates of this program who came from all over Nunavut and urban cities of Canada have been very successful in their careers after graduation from this program. They are all still my friends and as busy as we all have been all these years, we are still connected and hold a strong bond with each other as Inuit in our own small but luxurious Inuk world. HR Manager
-
1994 - 1996
HR Manager responsible for the recruitment of health practitioners for the Kivalliq region (8 communities including Sanikiluaq in the Belcher Islands). Recruitment of qualified nurses to provide for the best possible health care in our remote communities including the adrenaline of assisting in recruiting midwives for the "Birthing Project", a first in the eastern arctic region which would allow for women who were not high risk to deliver their babies close to home - at a closely supervised and healthy environment- usually a health centre. I assisted in the hiring of midwives from all over the world in this pilot midwifery project to help us bring to fruition, so many babies who now should be adults. I will never forget the midwives who helped me bring my youngest child into this world, with and in the comfort of their care, close to home and close to my family. I still love you all! Wherever are you now? Show less
