Jane is an excellent journalist and blogger. We have connected via Unique (www.rarechromo.org) because we both have adult children with a rare chromosome disorder. Jane is a good listener and empathetic towards other parents. Excellent family stories.

Jane is a journalist every commissioning editor should have in their contacts book. She was one of my most important sources of stories during my time working at Bella Magazine and The People thanks to her great ideas that nearly always made it into print. Not only that, Jane's pitches are well researched and she always makes sure they are workable before approaching me. She also has a great understanding of the type of stories that suit different publications. I have continued to work with Jane since moving to Dubai and have always found her very personable and easy to team up with. She is definitely an asset to any publication.

I'm a qualified counsellor and work part-time for The Challenging Behaviour Foundation co-delivering Positive Behaviour Support workshops and providing a 'listening ear' service for family carers. I am also a volunteer counsellor for Frontline 19 and All Saints Counselling Service in Portsmouth where I offer both Christian counselling and counselling to non-Christians. I previously worked as a journalist, writing as 'Jane Gregory.' I've always had a special interest in the unique issues faced by parent-carers of children with learning disabilities and some of my articles reflected this. I also wrote more general health and human interest articles for national newspapers and women's magazines. A chapter I wrote for a book entitled the ‘Genetics of Mental Retardation,’ (Karger) for the New England Journal of Medicine, was published in February 2010. I am the author of a self-help book published by Jessica Kingsley about my experiences bringing up a child with learning disabilities and behaviour that is labelled 'challenging.' My child has the rare chromosome disorder 1q21.1 microdeletion, only diagnosed when she was 21.
