As a resident of the Hollywood Riviera, I recommend Jane Abrams as a community organizer. Competent, energetic and resourceful, she is one of a small group of people in Redondo Beach who founded and promoted Save The Riviera, a team of concerned citizens wanting to protect the safety, environment, character and well-being of the community. Through her outreach via e-mails to the board of the Hollywood Riviera Homeowners’ Association, she gathered neighbors with shared concerns in both Redondo Beach and Torrance to work on problems stemming from overdevelopment and to make presentations. She was involved in small strategy meetings and rallied people to attend informative town meetings and to speak at Redondo Beach Planning Commission and City Council meetings. She is an impassioned and effective speaker who not only motivates the community, but also its leaders. In addition, she also was involved in building and maintaining e-mail lists; gathering neighbors to make flyers, banners, web and Facebook pages; collecting donations to fund the Save the Riviera booth at the Riviera Village Summer Festival; recruiting volunteers to staff the booth; and managing the booth during the weekend. The group Save the Riviera, now three-years-old, is still active and has made a positive impact on the community. Community outreach is one of her major strengths. She demonstrated it once again when she promoted Nils Nehrenheim during his successful campaign to be elected to the Redondo Beach City Council. I have known Jane for over two years and have witnessed her actions produce amazing results.
