Horizons College is a relatively new school in Caboolture, having commenced in April 2014. The establishment of the school was funded by Worklinks Inc. The school caters for young people who have disengaged from mainstream schooling or for whom mainstream schooling is not working. Horizons is an accredited non-state school and caters for students in years 7 - 12. It is co-educational. Our staffing is a combination of registered teachers and social/youth workers.Horizons College has full school accreditation. The curriculum in years 10-12 is primarily vocational-focussed. Over two consecutive competitions, Horizons College has had students represent Queensland at the World Skills National competition. This is a reflection of the high quality VETis offered. Worklinks Inc is our RTO.

My role was to head the newly formed VET section which was charged with implementing accredited VET into schools into Queensland. The role required considerable and ongoing liaision with industry training bodies who were involved in decisions about what VET was most appropriate at the time. A large number of teacher PD workshops were also conducted around the State.
