Research associate in the project 'Educating Future Change Agents - Higher Education as Motor of the Sustainability Transformation' at Leuphana University in Lüneburg and Arizona State University (ASU) Case study: Competence Development in Teacher Education for SustainabilityDescription:In form of a dual case study, I investigated how pre-service teachers can best develop the competences they need in order to effectively act as change agents and implement Education for Sustainability (EfS) at school level. Focusing on teacher training programs at two leading universities in the field, namely Arizona State University (ASU) and Leuphana University of Lüneburg, the goal was to gain knowledge on how to best set up courses in teacher education for sustainability (TEfS) in order to ensure the development of key competencies. Therefore, the main focus was on studying both the different pedagogical approaches (teaching & learning formats), set objectives, actual outcomes, and forms of adequate competence assessment.
