Jan-Maarten was plaatsvervangend afdelingshoofd binnen de ramersafdeling van FEZ. Hij was daarbij niet alleen de ‘ramersgoeroe’, maar ook het klankbord en de opleider van vele medewerkers. Hij had als klankbord een prettig relativeringsvermogen bij hectiek, een macrobenadering waarbij je snel tot de kern van de zaak kwam en daarbij een goede politieke inschatting. Als collega liep je dan ook graag even binnen bij opdoemende problemen zodat ze weer even in context geplaatst konden worden.
