Worked with Prof. Susan Powers under the Project: Environmental and health costs associated with ethanol production from biomass feedstocks. The study was prepared for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) to predict what the full environmental cost would be if different biomass feedstocks were utilized to meet future ethanol for fuel needs and consequently choose the best possible ethanol production scenarios. The study focused on the monetary externalities of ethanol productions including impacts of pesticide use for large-scale feedstock cultivation on public health, eutrophication impacts associated with fertilizer use, impact of land use change on greenhouse gas emissions and implications on natural resource use, especially groundwater. Published a research paper in the Energy Policy Journal, 2010, vol. 38, issue 6, pages 2785-2796. Show less
