I was blessed to be hired by the Honorable Ralph Cook in 2015 and re-enter the legal field after a few years of being home with my children and working retail. I also worked with City Attorney Bob Jones and Nicole King. I learned so much about city government and the importance of a strong connection between the citizens and its government. I processed lawsuits, subpoenas and claims entering them into the Citylaw database. During my time, I communicated a great deal with various departments within the City as a result of lawsuits, subpoenas and requests for depositions and meetings. The last two years I was heavily involved in personnel appeals: gathering documents, video and audio evidence for trial and ensuring all was prepared for same. Also communicated with attorneys and public re: claims and prepared estimates and correspondence with regard to denial or settlements of claims.

    • Temporary Paralegal

The full-time paralegal was on medical leave and I filled in her place. While she was out, I took new client histories, typed pleadings, correspondence, assisted clients and attorneys with plaintiff criminal and domestic law. Calendared court dates, noted cut-off, schedule depositions. Acted as runner to courthouse and ran minimal errands. The full-time paralegal was on medical leave and I filled in her place.
