RCP II in a 45 bed level 4 NICU. Expert level proficiency in managing and teaching all modes of mechanical ventilation with a special interest and experience in High Frequency Ventilation: HFJV and HFOV, and ETCO2 monitoring. Skilled at neonatal intubation and airway management including various modes of non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy care/management, nitric oxide administration, oxygen therapy, medication delivery, arterial punctures and blood gas interpretation, and neonatal/pediatric patient transport. Highly skilled at working as a member of a multidisciplinary medical care team in the ICU setting of a large, teaching & research hospital with a high degree of professional autonomy. As a Respiratory Therapist for a DME company I provided in home care and education to patients diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. A typical visit included setting up and programming various home CPAP/BiPAP devices according to their physicians orders, educating the patient on proper use/care/cleaning of their device, and education about sleep apnea and the dangers associated with non-compliance of their therapy. Chief Scribe/Physician Scribe

As a physician scribe in a trauma center, I was paired with a physician and managed all medical documentation related to the patients they were taking care of. I would chart for the physician, allowing them to focus more on their patient. This in turn provides improved care, efficiency, and information management for both the patient, physician, and ED staff. Other duties included monitoring for patient test results, collecting previous pertinent medical records for the physician and other general duties that help make the physician more efficient. As a result of hiring scribes, the physician group I worked for was able to decrease ED wait times, see more patients per doctor/shift, increased patient satisfaction, and increased revenue due to very thorough charting. I had a lead role in this position as Chief Scribe, which included payroll/timesheet management, scheduling, and education/training of new hires. Show less

Emergency Preparedness and Disaster Management AmeriCorps VISTA* member. In this role I coordinated the Volunteer & Medical Reserve Corps for Frederick County, MD and collaborated with Frederick City/County Office of Emergency Management, Frederick County Health Department, Frederick Memorial Hospital, the Mayors Office and other NGO’s in the area such as United Way, Habitat For Humanity, etc. to create and implement emergency preparedness plans for the local community. In this role I managed a database of volunteers, trained volunteers in FEMA’s Incident Command System, and planned volunteer training and drills for mass flu clinics, Hazmat scenarios, and other potential local emergencies.
